FLU SHOT
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year.

An influenza (flu) shot is a flu vaccine given with a needle, usually in the arm. Seasonal flu shots protect against the three or four influenza viruses that research suggests may be most common during the upcoming season.

It's best to get immunized early in the flu season. The CDC recommends that adults and children older than 6 months should get a flu vaccine by the end of October. Even if you wait until after October, go get your flu vaccine. It's still beneficial because it can protect you for the remainder of the flu season.
